O-Nite Semester 1, 2007

You didn’t think I would let this event pass me by without going out to test my Nikon 8800, would you? 56k-er’s beware~ Muahaha.

Nay, O-Nite (3rd March 2007, Saturday) came and went, and I was there. Officially, as an unofficial photographer (that made sense, right?), but of course, the main motive was to train my social skills. New students are always (psychologically) easier to approach - new people tossed into an alien environment. Of course, there are a few lansi people here and there, but I guess that is inevitable.

Needless to say, I learnt a valuable lesson in social engineering - if you act like you belong, you do. I was pretty nervous when I first arrived at Piasau Boat Club (where the event was being held) because there was a reception table with a name list - it seemed as if you need your name to be on the list to be granted entry. I just walked around and started taking photographs. Turns out that they didn’t give a shit. So lesson learnt - assume that they don’t give a shit until they actually do. Simple in theory, hard in practice.

Registration for New Students

So yeah, there’s the whole big group of new students checking up their name on the registration table. It pays to arrive early and flow in with the crowd. Of course, it also pays to know a few people in the organising party. Continue reading ‘O-Nite Semester 1, 2007′

New Year’s Eve~

Took kinda long before I decided to make this post. Procastination is a wonderful habit. Plus I left my camera at Chun Hong’s place. :(

Anyways, here are some photos for you viewing pleasure. (not in that way, please)

Before the party in full swing...

Here’s part of the people at the party before it went into full swing.

Food~

SteamQ (or BBBoat, as some ppl call it) for dinner, and softdrinks… Plus vodka, courtesy of yours truly… Whee~

Group standing...

Group photo of everyone going wild and stuff. Rather dark, so I had it brightened.

Group on the floor after raping Jack :P

Us, after we raped Jack. (actually we just took off his shirt, but whatever)

Anyway, I have a video of our countdown uploading in the process… Hopefully it goes up so I’ll add the link later. Maybe.

…hmm. Too bored to write anything else. So end here.

KK~

Finally, back from KK. And man… That place rocks. Everything is better in Sabah, let alone KK. The roads are better, the place is much more happening, the coconut trees are taller, the sea is actually blue (not grey), the people friendlier (in shops at least), the air fresher, and damn - the girls wayyyyy hotter. And they’re everywhere. Every corner you turn, every spot you look, there’s bound to be at least an attractive female in the picture. Habis Scott bernosebleed.

Needless to say, genetics tell us it is the best place on Borneo. Japan is a different story, of course, but yeah - back to the story.

Kroll, Scott and I left Miri on the 20th and spent the night in Brunei at my place so that we can make the queue in Limbang customs. Then starts our epic journey to the coveted seaside city of happening.

Below are the highlights of our journey:

  1. Scott punya passport expired - Brunei customs bercibai… so we stuck in Limbang for one day
  2. Scott nosebleed
  3. I pening sikit after minum margarita
  4. Hot girls everywhere… ^.^
  5. Kroll kena grind by Indian dude at Shenanigans

Stuck at Limbang~

We stuck kat Limbang… Stayed at Metro…

Road to KK~

Road to KK…

Backpackers Room

Kroll in our room at backpackers~

Choir in the background...

Choir singing in where Kroll calls the ‘cool street’. Here is where all the shops for all the cool branded shops like Quicksilver can be found…

Hmm~

Cool street again - taken from upstairs…

Snow?

Soap ’snow’ on cool street. And ciplak punya Santa on the side. There was this hot santa girl though. She berwave-wave at me. Bangga I.

Horsies~

Omg. Horses being used as Christmas decor… Woobee~ Woobee~ Animal cruelty alert~

Me coffee and Starbucks~

Me sipping tea at Starbucks. Malas I nak hit espresso.

Shenanigans somewhere in the background~

The hotel where Shenanigans, the hottest club in KK, lie. And the big fish is kinda cool too. Miri doesn’t have anything as cool as this.

Pulling an Adam~

Here I am, browsing for a drink/food at CDS… *ahem*

Too bad I neglected to charge my camera batteries, thus the lack of photos… Haih. What to do~

Anyway, after a server down and whatnot for my webhost… I kinda lost the flow of the blogpost already… So yeah. End here. :P

Whoa Pokai

Going out on photoshoots and film screening is a tedious process, and it burns a hole in one’s pocket. Not for my film, it’s not - after all, we used whatever we can find in the surroundings and made use of nothing that would cost us $$. I know people are cheap. So it’s better to have a $0 budget for the film.

Aaron’s film, however - is a high budget film having all sorts of locations and props… And glass breaking. Whoa.

So yeah, I joined them in their photoshoot session (at my own expense) - mainly because I know they’ll be doing fun stuff and I’ll be missing out if I don’t. Of course, there’s a little fishball here and there, but that’s not the point.

So yeah, we went to Dave’s Deli for dinner after trying to get some photos of the sunset at the beach (which didn’t really work out).

Group at Dave Deli's

From the left: Tish, Me (ninja style pose), Mei Vun, Aaron Mark, Kroll, Scott and Stacy~ So yeah, the photoshoot was for Aaron’s film, where Kroll and Mei Vun are acting as a couple. Got a few photos that can generate a big scandal if I choose to post them… But no. I beradam.

So we went to Marriot Hotel’s lounge/bar/whatever-you-call-it-place-with-live-band after that to take more ‘romantic’ photos of our dear actors. o.o

So yeah, here’s a photo of Mei Vun with the singer at Marriot. I won’t let you all sit there like that after having written about having a pretty actress for my film, would I? Rejoice, mortals.

Mei Vun Singing~

She was singing with the lady there… Can’t remember what song… Haih.

Of course, what kind of director would I be if I hadn’t taken a photo with our dear actress herself?

Me and Mei Vun (spoiled photo)

My camera wah cacat. Or maybe it’s ACDSee which deleted the good version where I told the photographer (Kroll) to use single flash. But regardless, I shall post this.

Originally, I wanted a pimp photo with both Tish and Mei Vun in it and me in the middle, but ah well…

Me, Tish, and Scott

At least I got this photo with Tish, and Scott at the back.

Me and Kroll Smoking~

And finally a photo of me with Kroll. We’re supposed to be blowing smoke from our mouths… But my camera cacat. What to do? Hantam aje la. So yeah, we chilled, played darts, took more scandalous photos… And we went home.

I never did get my pimp photo.

Happy B’day Woobee~

Okay, I’ve been rather negligent in blogging nowadays. And with Final Fantasy XII, this can only get worse. Not to mention the recent release of Bleach: Blade Battlers and the upcoming release of Battlefield 2142. My life can only go down the drain yet again. What can I say… I’m a gamer at heart.

Anyway, the point of today’s post is not about my life, or rather, my lack of it. It’a about Woobee, and her birthday party~

We had the party at Dave’s Deli in Imperial Mall last Friday. That’s Friday the 13th for you lesser mortals out there. No hockey mask bearing individuals appeared though. Ah well. Anyway, this post will be a photo megapost - so 56k no. :P

Group photo~

Anyway, here’s the group photo we all posed for. The guy who took this photo had shaky hands so it came out rather blurred… Ah well. If he had my ninja hands, the results would’ve been much better.

Woobee and her cake~

Woobee and her cake of fire. Apparently shooting in dark setting is not good. (Yes, the lights were off, even if you can’t see from the photo)

Woobee and her presents~

Oh, here’s a photo of Woobee and her presents - A nice moomoocowmoo (Barber 2006) and marshmellows. We never did put those marshmellows onto the cake. Ah well.

Woobee's cake~

A closeup photo of Woobee’s birthday cake. Yum.

Woobee and me~

Here’s a photo of Woobee and me with the Ultimate Poser Cute Poseâ„¢~ ^_^ Note that I was looking at another direction. There were multiple cameras shooting. Should’ve looked into my camera. T-T

Woobee and Tish~

Here’s a photo of Woobee and Tish. Whee~

Chillin at Desserts~

So after the party, we went to Desserts to chill for a bit.

Yucks. Crap espresso...

…and I ordered the suckiest espresso in the world. It tasted like kopi o - with extra water. Yucks.

Woobee with horns~

Here’s Woobee having more fun with the party hats. Samseng, this.

Kroll with... Headlights and battering ram. Wtf.

…and that led to something that I feel was not exactly quite child-safe. Ada ke kinky~?

And that was it… Scott sent us all home, after everyone went a little too emo for our own good at Desserts. Kroll was talking about his past experiences with girls, making most of us feel sorry for ourselves… T-T

Talking about the past isn’t exactly the most upbeat of activities. Emo trigger it be called. Ah well.

And to conclude the post, I would like the make a bold statement about cars - How fast a car is depends not on the engine, nor the suspension, nor the tyres. It’s the cup-holder by the driver seat. I want the ultimate poser car - the Toyota Corolla AE86 Trueno. ^_^

Mana kan lesen L ku? Cibai IMMS.

Naruto Day! Among other things…

Today was a day filled with Naruto. Like seriously Naruto’d for absolutely no reason whatsoever. There isn’t much to say about class today - it’s just CRTS as usual. Our essays were good enough so we didn’t have to do a final draft. Wootages and all, considering what a lazy bastard I am.

First and foremost, while I haven’t told everyone yet - I ran across this really cool site through a link in Jaxel’s (the admin) signature in Shishi-Rendan. It’s this online Naruto multiplayer game called Naruto Arena. While it is not a MMORPG like Guild Wars or the like, and instead more like what I referred to as MtG with Naruto - it is a seriously addictive game, and while it is slightly dependent on luck in chakra acquisition (like MtG), it still has a decent strategic depth. Heck, some matches felt a lot like an intense match with Roey back in high school in MtG. I was seriously counting down to the nearest possible turn when I would lose.

Here’s my player card, just for the heck of it.

My Player Card~

You should try it out, especially if you’re into Naruto and/or strategic games.

So once again Kroll and Scott lepak at my place after classes. We played a little Pro Evo 5, and Kroll whooped my ass. Well, not really - it was a 2-1 win for him, but he did beat me. I then played Scott and won, mainly because he’s never played the game before. Kroll soon left after that - not sure why, probably to pick up Kroll Sr. (his dad)

I was a little surprised, but I actually managed to talk Scott into trying out Narutimate Hero 3. Probably thanks to my elite ninja skills of persuasion. Wootages and all. ^_^ What rocks even more was that he actually thought the game was fun, despite being a semi Naruto anti-fanboy. We played quite a few matches after I thought him the ropes - more or less. I was pretty rusty myself. No idea what happened to all my teching. T-T

First Scott, then Kroll - then hopefully the juniors that come in next semester~ Man, soon I will have this nice little team of elite Narutimate players right here in Miri! If you’re reading this, Roey, you better get your team fired up at KL too. I am so gonna whoop your ass, sifu.

So that’s that for Naruto Day. As for the night - it’s guys night out again. Just like last Wednesday. Kroll picked me up at around 8pm and we had dinner at Nasi Lemak. I had this Mee Sup that Scott seems keen on convincing me was made from the water they throw out at the back of the restaurant. Come to think of it, the soup does look kinda like that crap dishwashing water. Eww. Damn you, Scott.

So after we makan we decided to go play pool instead of going to watch movies. We need to save up for our road trip to KK, which Scott seems keen on going on the 3rd of August. (not the 1st) So I suck at pool. Big deal. I was more into randomly poking the pool balls around than anything else. Not my fault if I can’t get a ball in for the life of me. Maybe I’ll play better when I’m drunk.

Scott and I at pool table~

There’s Scott and I by the pool table during a match. I put the camera on auto countdown. Y’know, I’d probably perform much better in wielding a pool stick in a bar fight than a pool game. See how I hold the stick more like a weapon than a sports equipment.

Kroll with his cam

Here’s Kroll taking a photo of me taking a photo of him. He’s the only other person in the Media Foundation Semester 1 group besides Rubee that almost always has a camera with him. Photo kinda dark because I used fill-in flash. I don’t like anti-redeye flash coz it sucks, and it’s slow.

Needless to say, I ended up being one of the losers in both the matches we played. Good thing is, the pool places here charges in games, and it’s only around RM3 something per game or so. So we ended up paying like RM1 each per game. Pretty cheap huh?

So it was around 10.30pm (if memory serves) when we left the pool place. But man, the night was still young. We decided to go to Al Fresco to minum a little. From what they said, it was ladies night, so we (they) half-expected there to be hot girls around. So much for saving up for KK… Being the alcoholic ninja that I am, I ordered Vodka Lime, which cost me RM8. Bad thing was - it tasted like crap. It was freaking diluted. How do you expect a person to get drunk from diluted ethanol? Damn cheap bastards. But the drink definitely wasn’t cheap. =.=”

Scott and I at Al Fresco

There’s me with Scott in the background while we sat at Al Fresco. Notice the lack of hot girls in the background? Yeah, I’ve been telling them - hot girls only come out in the weekends. On ladies night you see all the working aunties with wrinkles all over their faces and five layers of makeup, and also men pretending to be women. But no~ They wouldn’t listen. So happy la them now. We come here sit like retards and watch Germany vs Italy match rerun.

Kroll and I at Al Fresco

Here’s me with Kroll. For some damn reason my hair looks freaking gay in this picture. Maybe I accidentally sapu my hair behind my ears right before taking this photo. I am definitely not going to let myself look like this in future photos.

Kroll and his bro at Al Fresco~

The guy on the right is Kroll’s younger brother. And yeah, the photos were taken while we were waiting for our drinks to arrive. *sigh*

So we drank a little, chatted a lot, and then we paid and went home. Malas to explain further. Nothing much more to say either.

Oh, before I close - notice that my posts are always one day later than the day I am blogging about. Blame this on my nocturnal lifestyle and my sleeping times. Most of the time I blog after midnight. And no, my brain is still perfectly functioning even after midnight. Can’t say the same about the afternoons though…

Relative Morality

Rained like shit this morning. Damn, everything was flooded - people drowned, cats drowned, dogs drowned… Hell, even fish drowned. Bah so Scott and I ran out of the car to the admin building and got sorta soaked. Damn annoying also. So whatever la - we walked off to moral tutorial, expecting the norm.

Mana tahu, suddenly we have the best tutorial. Ever. Not only was the tutorial damn short (only 25 minutes or so), Satan’s ex was so… not ganas today. That among other reasons. In fact, the only thing bad about this tutorial was that it was… So. Damn. Short… Haha.

Now for something with undefined context: [prematurely removed because Scott threatened to not drive me to KK if I post this]

Bah whatever. Suddenly we found out our classes cancelled (until IT lecture). So whatever la. When we were about to go pick up Fish and Cammy for their meeting, we saw this seriously cool looking modded Kia Spectra. First response - “WTF?! This is a Kia?! Kia made cool cars?!” Then the next thing - “HELL I MUST TAKE PHOTOS!”.

So take photos I did - after I picked it up at my place. (forgot to bring :P)

Modded Kia Spectra - Front

So here’s the front of the car - nice and shiny too. I’m lovin’ it. Lazy to blur out the license plate though. Unnecessary, since nobody cares whose car this is. (And it’s not mine anyway - so whatever la)

Spectra's Back

Bah - here’s the car’s ass. I do notice the damn lamppost sticking out the the car’s top, and it spoils the photo, but it’s more of a snapshot than anything… Just to show how cool the car looks. I’m seriously going to get a car as cool, or cooler than this when I actually do get a car. And hell yeah, it must be manual transmission. It is forbidden for a high-level ninja such as myself to use noobish forms of transport such as automatic transmission vehicles. Bikes are okay, buses too. Travelling on foot and running around is preferable, but we are also forbidden to reveal our ninja techniques to mere mortals, so I normally have to restrain myself when around people. (else I could easily leap from tree to tree, roof to roof, and definitely be able to run faster than any car made by them mortals)

So enough about the car. After we got back, we suddenly got a distressed SMS from Tish - she lost her book. Not just any book. Her media book. Mahal also that one - RM87, if I haven’t mistaken. Lazy to check price tag bah. Anyway, Scott and I, being heroes (and me being a ninja - it’s a duty of mine, helping people out) decided to go see if we can help. Sekali we reach there, we saw Tish there yelling at… Hobo. Yeah, Hobo. (People with context will know instantly who I’m talking about - and if you don’t know… Please. Get off this blog. Now. Unless of course you’re a cute girl who thinks I’m cool.)

Bah. Never seen Tish marah like that also. Suddenly Hobo got pulled into the meeting room and kena yelled at by Tish. Story like this - Tish left her stuff, her pencilcase and book on table while she go jamban. She come back her stuff gone already. So marah la her. Who wouldn’t be. I remember my bike incident a week back. It wasn’t pleasant. Suddenly she spotted Hobo with her book. Then she realised the book was hers, so she demanded it back - and scolded Hobo in the process.

Not puas marah, so pull Hobo into the meeting room and marah some more. The excuses made up - how Hobo supposedly found the book on the floor and then decided to hold on to it until the rightful owner is found, and all sorts of other weird stories came out. It was stupid, and praiseworthy at the same time. Sure, I could lie on the fly and make stories, no problem that. But damn, that Hobo can make really deep stories. Really, really deep. Too bad nobody trusts the schizophrenic. Else Hobo may have gotten away with it. ^_^

This, that, this, that. Malas to type also now. Bah, final words, final picture:

zomg. It's still desolated.

How long has it been, huh? Even the grass grown back already. On the side note, they did start work on the Student Drop-off point. And to think I was wondering where to park my damn bike. At least I don’t have to worry about parking anymore. =\

Finally a reference list, for insider joke purposes:

And now, we end with a chatlog screenshot between me and… someone.

Haha. Me and goblok chatting.

Kage Bunshin

Ore no Kage Bunshin

Here’s what happens when a guy gets bored after having his Hitman game crash on him several times, especially when he owns a camera and posesses some photoshop skills. Of course, you’ll probably think this is a blatant cover-up for my ninja skills (and you’re probably right), but whatever.

Crash la, Hitman. Crash some more. I’ll just go make a few more cool photos with my ninjutsu in action.

Rough Winds Ahoy~

Now that my webhost’s MySQL servers are up, and hopefully for good - I can finally get some entries posted. For some reason the links in the sidebar got messed up temporarily yet, and now it’s all right again. That, plus my interweb connection is still acting gay for no good reason. I called up tech support multiple times, went through their futile efforts to try to solve the problem they assumed was on my side of the line (which I am undoubtedly sure is not), and convinced them (probably) with my ninja skills of deception (and persuasion) that the problem was server-side. It makes sense if you think about it - the internet connection goes really slow for no good reason on Sunday, then it becomes uber fast (as it should be) on Monday morning, then turns slow yet again after that, and has been slow like that ever since. All the while nothing has been changed - none of the settings have been changed at all.

Now that I’m done ranting about the crappy internet (damn deja vu), let’s talk about yesterday. Yesterday was, in one word - cold. In two words - cold and crazy. Apparently there was crazy-ass huge wind blowing around the Senadin area and at Curtin. That actually explains why the toilet doors were so damn noisy Sunday night. Bang bang bang bang bang. I thought there was a damn burglar or ghost or something stupid retarded. =\

I tumpang Scott’s car yesterday morning, and the moment we reached Curtin, before we even parked the car, we saw this:

The first casualty~

WTF indeed. The winds were that rough ka? o.O Scary also. So whatever la, we got off the car and walked up to the library… then zomg. Yet another casualty.

Yet another down~

I quickly walked up closer for a closer shot from a different angle.

Second Gig: Alter Angle

Here’s what it looked like at the end of the day, after our classes:

Second Gig: Aftermath

Oh, the botakness. So we walked on… Hoping to find more fallen trees. That, and we don’t really have anything much to do. Then we walked across this:

Third Strike

Yep, yet another uprooted by the wrath of nature the night before. This one is near the lake, after G3. Warrgh. And no, we’re not going anywhere - we just thought the hostel area was a nice place to walk around while we try to spot… Fallen trees. Yeah, fallen trees. And spot a fallen we did:

The final uprooted~

Rough winds ahoy, indeed. The rest of the day was damn damn boring. Kroll, Scott and I ended up lepak around the library area while we waited for our IT lecture. IT lecture… sucked. There was no air conditioning, the projector wasn’t working, and Ms Sylvia was yelling at everyone. =.=” That among other reasons.

So whatever, we lepak outside the library area after the lecture (which ended early), listening to a hobo talk to his dead squirrel about a lot of money, among other weird and unmentionable things (I value my life, you know). Kroll’s dad picked him up a while later, so Chin and I tumpang Scott’s car go home also. And that, is the end of that. If you want continuation, scroll up and reread the damn post.

By the way - we just found out from Urban Dictionary that Kroll is a gay mating dance. O.o

The Laughing Man Strikes!

Laughing Me~

So why is this picture here? No good reason, really. Just a guy under influence of Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex posting random photoshopped pictures. Well, having a (sorta) huge collection of anime is a really cool thing - to some people at least. It goes without saying that GitS:SAC is a really cool series, and really deep as well. Much better than the two Ghost in the Shell movies - in my opinion, at least. I thought the movies were weird - plus the art then wasn’t really attractive. Blah.

Life revolves around more than anime, of course. I went out with Kroll and Scott today for a ‘photoshoot‘. Or at least, it was supposed to be one. We planned to go around taking photos for our IVC assignment, but we ended up taking more weird photos for our portfolios instead. =_=” Ah well. Since we did go around taking photos, may as well upload them here for everyone to see.

Osu~ Crab photo~

And first of all, we have this picture of this crab. It was zipping around the sand so damn quickly that I was lucky that I even got a shot like this. Of course, I had to crop the whole photo quite a bit, so I’m really glad that my camera had such a high resolution.

Fisherman~

And next up is a photo of a fisherman in action. It took several shots before I got the right timing for the waves to crash in - glad I did. I climbed onto this railing above the fisherman to take this shot. Would’ve liked it better if I actually could control the shutter speed of my camera - but damn, manual cameras are damn hard to use.

Singaporean(?) fisherman~ So damn kiasu~

And finally, we have our kiasu fisherman with the huge-ass fishing pole. While everyone goes around with their normal fishing pole, this guy lugged around his giant thing. Bangga lah him. He’s just compensating wah~ He needs some form of comfort too. ^_^

And thus concludes my mini post of photos. There are a lot more where that came from, and there was a particular photo that Kroll took that I wanted to put up, but I haven’t gotten the photo from him. So whatever la. I’ll post when I next feel like it.
