I sorta left this blog that way already, it seems. =/
Got kinda caught up with stuff - outings, yamchas, and also going on an epic Mount Kinabalu motorboating climbing trip. But nah, all these are but excuses. I was just too… uninspired to type up a post. Too many other things demand my time.
Anyway, the main purpose of this post is not to rant about my lack of motivation to blog lately - but rather, my sudden urge to blog about something awesome.
I just finished the campaign for CoD4. I still have the bonus mission to play - but otherwise, I know all there is to be spoiled. What can I say about it in one word? Epic.
Yesh! Narutimate Accel 2 is finally out! Been waiting for it since the disappointing release of Accel 1 which omitted Sasuke. Yes, despite his annoying whiny character - he’s awesome. And now he’s here. In the game. Woo!
One picture tells it all. Yep, Xenogears - often revered as one of the best (or sometimes even as the best) JRPGs ever. The narrative tells of a story that dates back 10,000 years (in the Xenogears timeline, of course) - from the dawn of time and the beginnings of the human race on the planet. During the time of its release, Xenogears offers a fresh new perspective (albeit a rather controversial one) in RPG story narrative in terms of its various religious allusions and sometimes ‘blasphemous’ views.
Like any other JRPG that I’ve played - it starts off in a small peaceful place where the protagonist Wong Fei Fong lives happily with the people. Fei (as the game calls him) was brought to the village of Lahan three years prior - heavily wounded and the such. The protagonist suffers from amnesia and does not remember anything prior to life in the village.
But in pure vanilla JRPG fashion - all hell breaks loose one day when Lahan was attacked by enemy Gears. Gears are what they call the giant robots in the Xenogears universe. So yeah - Fei freaks out and unleashes some form of power that wipes out the village (in a typical anime fashion). From there, Fei departs from Lahan in a journey of self discovery and whatnot. Oh, you know - typical story stuff.
Srsly. ’nuff said. While some parts may be pre-rendered, I’d suppose that the parts with the battle menus are actual game engine graphics. Fucking awesome. Looking forward to the game itself. Now if only I have a PS3. Anyone care to buy me a Christmas present?
Finished Portal yet again, and went through the developer comments. I really love those dev comments in newer Half-Life games - shows you how much thought they actually put into the games they make.
Well yeah, done with Portal - Fallout kinda lost its flair, Wild Arms Alter Code F went kaput (damned disc), so now I’m going on a round with Xenogears [PSX].
Yep. Left Bioshock running (paused) while I went out for a burger. A really long burger. It’s only too bad that the ambient temperature of my room doesn’t agree with it. So when I came back… Blank. Everything was blank and not powering up. Riight.
Being the ninja computer surgeon that I am, I went and dissected the being in coma. And yeah, my previously red (and very fierce) graphics card had yellow fever. Or at least a yellow patch that shows that it’s burnt out… So yeah.
Doesn’t matter. I’ll be winning my new RM10,000 PC from PC Gamer anyway. Yeah man. Then I’ll be running Bioshock at full details - with a vengeance, yo. Gila confident I.
La Haine is giving me a headache - thanks to the essay that the Ram gave us. 2000 words yo. And I have done less than 3000 words at the moment (0% to be exact). Not to worry, my ninja typing skills will have it done by the time I finish typing up this post. Maybe not. But it pays to be optimistic.
