I have this habit of liking anime people hate

To each his or her own, I guess. I personally loved Gundam 00 - got it and marathoned it through a few days after I caught wind of season 2 coming out. Now I’ve heard rather harsh reviews here and there about this series, but besides the slow start and the rather typical cast - Gundam 00 has still blown me away.

Zombie Princess!

Shikabane Hime: Aka, or Corpse Princess if translated literally. I’ve been really interested in this anime ever since my epic Autumn anime search two nights ago - mainly because it’s by Gainax (they made TTGL as well, so yeah). I’m also following Casshern Sins (pretty good action, looks like Speed Racer kicking ass), Hyakko (mainly for Hirano Aya <3) and also keeping an eye on Chäos;HEAd (because of all the hype), but Shikabane Hime easily took the cake.

For me, at least. Lots of hate for this series on the internet, for some reason. =/

The murderer… was you!

You did it!

Detective Conan is awesome. I knew that from way long time ago, and I rediscovered that fact yesterday. Been reading it since last night, and hooked since. Yeah, I know it’s highly dramatised - and the cases and circumstances (not to mention the godly luck of the protagonist) are very unrealistic, but hey, it’s a detective manga, and I enjoy it. So ’nuff said.

Got my dose from onemanga.com. Lots of other series there, so enjoy.

OMG OMG OMG It’s finally here!!!!

Narutimate Accel 2! It’s finally here!

Yesh! Narutimate Accel 2 is finally out! Been waiting for it since the disappointing release of Accel 1 which omitted Sasuke. Yes, despite his annoying whiny character - he’s awesome. And now he’s here. In the game. Woo!

Oh Cool, Another Giant Robot Anime

I’ve finally finished watching the 25-episode series, Soukyuu no Fafner (or Fafner of the Azure).

My very first impression of this anime would be “WTF EVA?!”. And rightfully so - let me sum up parts of the plot (after the jump) to demonstrate this.

I want the Holy Grail too…

Fate/Stay Night Logo

Finally, through my assignments and projects - and now through my anti-social study week, I have finally finished watching Fate/Stay Night. Yes, it’s been almost a year since the series finished airing in Japan, but it’s just like me to wait for a complete series of an anime to come out before actually bothering to get it and watch. And well, for this series - I’d say I’m not disappointed.

The series is about a war for the Holy Grail, a legendary artifact that can fulfil the wishes of whoever obtains it. Heroes are summoned by the Holy Grail as Servants to fight for humans (usually magicians) whom are named Masters. Yes, very lame and generic - but RPG lovers can get off with this stuff, so whatever. So yeah, in every war for the Holy Grail, seven Masters are chosen and given a Servant each - each Servant of a different class. Archer, Saber, Lancer, Assassin - something along that line.

Fate/Stay Night is actually based on an eroge, just like quite a few other series that I have watched. And this one actually pulls it off quite well in terms of action and story pacing. Most of the time, at least. And it manages to squeeze in a few scenes that nods to its hentai lineage. That and a few really cute parts to take a break between all the action. It’s a Conspiracy!

Welcome to the NHK!

Irony. Irony in its purest form.

It’s a conspiracy, I tell you. A conspiracy by whomever made this anime. A conspiracy by whomever wrote the novel from which this anime was based.

NHK. Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai. An evil organisation out to turn people into hikikomori - antisocial shut-ins who isolate themselves from society and avoid most if not all contact with other humans.

Welcome to the NHK. What a name. What a name befitting of such evil. An evil series with such a captivating storyline about a young hikikomori NEET who thinks the world is conspiring against him, his anime otaku friend, the galge that they’re making, and a cute girl - and how our protagonist eventually learns to return to society.

Ironically - such a captivating storyline is highly capable of turning people into hikikomori, as it almost did to me.

Phone off. MSN signed off. Lights off. Doors locked. Food rations by my side. I totally shut out the world for almost a whole day just to finish this entire series in one sitting. And I did. Welcome back, society. Hehe. Continue reading ‘It’s a Conspiracy!’
