v3 - vicissitude iii (not final version)

To each his or her own, I guess. I personally loved Gundam 00 - got it and marathoned it through a few days after I caught wind of season 2 coming out. Now I’ve heard rather harsh reviews here and there about this series, but besides the slow start and the rather typical cast - Gundam 00 has still blown me away.

This series follows four Gundam Meisters (Gundam pilots) as they fight against the world in a future where there are only 3 nations (USA, Europe, Asia). The world still has a lot of war going on, so Celestial Being (the team in which the four Meisters belong to) took it to themselves to intervene in war and blow up both sides of the battlefield.

This anime starts of rather slow (as a series), but the first episode was awesome nonetheless. Gundam Exia piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei (main character more or less) shows up and beats the crap out of another mobile suit in a series of awesome poses. Pictured below: not the first episode, but awesome pose nonetheless.

The Gundams kick a hell lot of ass in the first half of the series because they have awesome special engine packs that produce GN particles (Gundam-speek for awesome cool looking green dots), which are more awesome and powerful than ‘normal’ engines that other mobile suits have. Of course, it’s basically an excuse to create really awesome looking ‘wing’ effects on the Gundams - but I’m not complaining.

Ah. The series is not entirely about awesomeness and kicking ass and blowing shit up though. There are multiple angles in this series, and personally I found the Saji/Louise angle one of the most interesting. They’re normal civilians for most of the series, hearing about Celestial Being through the news and stuff, until they finally get caught in the whole mess.

I won’t talk more about it lest I spoil - but if you like mecha and are willing to sit through around 5 meh episodes, you’re in for a ride after that (25 eps in total).

Ah, and I just watched Season 2 - and it rocks even more now.

Ack. I forgot to mention - I finally realise why people were flaming Code Geass R2 so badly about being Gundam ripoffs. The similarities are way too blatant.
